The 3D printing clutch is a project to explore the possibility of combining 3D printing and Fashion together, by using a new 3d printing material as well as 3d printing machine.
Design process
1. Requirement and Ideation
Model and print a multi-part object that fits inside a 6x6x10 inch envelope using the tools in Rhino. The objects can be stand alone or attachments for other objects (or persons).
- Incorporate mixed materials. (Not all materials need to be printed)
- Be creative, incorporate different tech and materials and pay strong attention to the form and function of your design.
- Be mindful of detail in your design and think about the end user and presentation.
After lots of struggle, we changed our idea several times and we decided to do something we want rather than something we should. Since we enjoy combining different materials together and we’d love to create our own fashion. Inspired by the Kate Spade clutches and traditional ivory carving, we create the hollow pattern in AI and edit it in rhinos. We printed our model with mojo machine at Laguardia Studio, New York University.
