Up in the clouds

Teammates: Shu Zhang, Yemo Li

The public interactive installation, “Up in the Clouds", consists of seven spherical swings and a huge mirror. The artists skillfully control the perspective. When the audience looks into LINGYUN LANE from the outside, what he sees is a huge cloud. When the audience approached it, the “cloud" was deconstructed and became an independent "cloud ball". The audience can sit on the cloud ball and swing with the mood, and the light of the "cloud ball" will change accordingly. The mirror reflects the real-time light and shadow of the sky, creating a feeling like dancing in the clouds.

As Bernard Trummy put it, "what defines space is the events that occur in it." The public interactive installation “Up in the cloud" can be experienced by multiple audiences at the same time. When the audience's "cloud ball" collides, it will produce a wonderful scale, which symbolizes the inspiration between individual spirits and the formation of the community. In the night, seven cloud balls emit soft and white lights, becoming the guide of the way back home for those living in LINGYUN LANE. During the day and night, the installation and the community breathe together, with the pulse of day and night alternating.

We hope to rejuvenate the community and the city through this "cloud field", and bring people a light space for spiritual communication. (Size: 4*4*4.5m)
